Shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, State Police troopers received a report from a driver traveling south on I-95 in New London County in the Town of Old Lyme stating that she had been threatened by the driver of a tan Ram 1500 pickup truck with Maine license plates.
According to police, the woman said that while the pick-up truck driver, later identified as Old Lyme resident Noah Jones, age 55, was passing her in the left lane near exit 66, he pointed a black handgun at her before speeding away.
Troopers were able to track down the driver, police said, and managed to use a “box in” maneuver to get Jones to stop.
During the subsequent traffic stop, police said that Jones had an empty pistol holder on his waistband, and a Glock 19 handgun was tucked under the backseat, within reach of the driver’s seat.
Jones was taken into custody without incident and charged with:
- First-degree threatening;
- Breach of peace;
- Reckless endangerment.
Jones was released on a $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
